Whereas, MidCoast Fine Arts encourages the role of Art in tourism and redevelopment; and,

Whereas, the Community of Rock Island considers the Arts to be a major component of our Quality of Life; and,

Whereas, the Quad City Area boasts a symphony, ballet, and museum of art, as well as numerous other performing art organizations;

Now, Therefore, I, Mark W. Schwiebert, Mayor of the City of Rock Island, do hereby support the request of MidCoast Fine Arts and join with other area Mayors in proclaiming our Quad City Area as a 

"MIDWEST ARTS MECCA" 

and urge all residents to enjoy the many cultural activities available to them.
